Today many of the vultures are vanishing from our skies.
Therefore, the vulture is now categorised as an endangered species. The decline is so alarming in the Indian sub-continent that the bird seen in plenty a decade ago is at the verge of extinction. India has the highest decline rate of almost 99%.

The research indicated that the death of the vultures was due to a drug called Diclofenac; a pain-relieving drug given to cattle.

Following the release of the film ‘The Vanishing Vultures’, the manufacture and sale of the drug Diclofenac has been banned nationwide - to give the remaining 1% of vultures a fighting chance of survival.

But unfortunately the drug is still available in the market.

Therefore EMF is using the films to reach out to people, especially local farmers, informing them about the importance of the vulture in the food chain and about the lethal effects of Diclofenac.
