The Gujarat Chapter was started in Viraval at the Park Hotel with the help of our co-ordinator Wadood Bhai Banatwala wherein we went to over 250-300 villages using a jeep, a projection system, showing the film ‘Shores of Silence’ to the local communities – the fishermen, their children and their wives. We tried to convince the fishermen’s wives that it wasn’t worth for their husbands to risk their lives by catching a whale shark for a mere 500-750 rupees.
